Add Search Analytics data columns
The new version of our favourite SEO spider - code-named "Fenwick" - introduces Google Search Console API integration to fetch "Search Analytics" data: Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position for crawled web pages.
Adding Search Analytics data in Visual SEO Studio grids
You can find the context menu command available wherever it makes sense: in Tabular View (thus also in all result sets of Custom Filters), in Data Extraction, and in Readability Analysis.
A configuration window will let you specify date range and other parameters. You can configure all the parameters you are used to see in the Google Search Console:
Search Analytics settings
The most prominent difference is we decided to let you filter over any number of keyword. During our internal use for our agency work we often needed to filter out branded keywords, and this was a must-have.
Search Analytics data in Tabular View
After clicking the OK button, four additional columns will be added at the end of the table, showing for each URL for which the data were retrieved: Clicks, Impressions, CTR and (average) Position.
Here is an example of the columns added at the Tabular View (which is also the view used to display all Custom Filters result sets):

You can also get them in Data Extraction:

...and in Readability Analysis as well:

The authentication flow
We improved the program support for Google authentication already used to get the list of administered sites.
Now you'll be asked for authorization of using Google APIs only the first time, and Visual SEO Studio will take care of storing in a secure way your authorization token, and require it to be refreshed seamlessly.
First time secure API usage authorization
The program does not store nor know your Google credentials, all the authentication process is based on the OAuth protocol.
The short-living authorization token is saved locally encrypted, and renewed from Google transparently when needed.
Conclusions, and what’s next
"Fenwick" is the first of a series of releases dedicated to API integration. We plan adding Analytics and others as well in the near future.
Note: Search Analytics integration is available only in the Professional Edition. You can evaluate it for free for 30 days by registering the Trial version.
There several other changes and improvements in "Fenwick", for a complete list please check the Release Notes.
Now you are itching to try the new GSC integration, so do launch Visual SEO Studio "Fenwick"!
